Antico Contempo crafts meticulously detailed “contempos” and mosaics, drawing inspiration from authentic antiquities of ancient cultures like Rome, Greece, and Egypt. Contempos are recreations, inspirations, or replicas of ancient art in contemporary form.
Each reproduction is based on statues, figurines, mosaics, vases and everything in between. Advanced virtual modeling, 3D scanning technology, and hand craftsmanship allows us to preserve the artistry and authenticity of the originals while presenting them in a modern form. We offer pieces in various materials such as resin, aluminum, stone and more. Antico Contempo also offers Mosaic contempos influenced by ancient with a modern twist with the option of custom orders.
Each creation is supplemented with the historical background, high-quality photos, and provenance of the original piece. You will not only provide the enduring legacy of ancient art for your home, office, or as a gift, but also gain a unique connection to and education of the rich history of antiquities.
The concept for Antico Contempo was sparked in 2024 during a visit to the Boston MFA, where Alex and Soliman Aboutaam and their college friends were captivated by the beauty of the Ancient Art collection. While everyone admired the pieces, none of them could take a piece of history home. Inspired by the experience and their university's new MakerSpace, they set out to turn this dream into reality.
The first contempo was born, blending ancient artistry with modern craftsmanship, created from a head of Hermes. You can see its picture in the middle row on the left. This vision not only transformed the brother’s passion into a product but also laid the foundation for a future of innovation in the art world.
We sought to revive the timeless craftsmanship that once adorned the homes of ancient civilizations, blending it with the creativity of today—mosaics. Our handcrafted, 100% natural stones are meticulously placed to form intricate tapestries of beauty, perfect for enhancing your living room, outdoor spaces, or anywhere the mind can imagine.
